Director of Programs and Head of the Youth & Migration Cluster, Maty Ndiaye brings more than 17 years in African governance, steering AGI’s regional portfolio from youth and migration initiatives to high-level mediation support across West Africa.
Maty began her career in strategic communication at Emmaus International in France, focusing on international advocacy and public awareness in the fight for the rights of migrants. She went on to bring more than 13 years of expertise in African governance as a Governance, Rule of Law and Human Rights Specialist at UNDP.
In Dakar, she served as National Coordinator for joint African Union and UNDP initiatives, leading strategic action plans for the ratification of key AU treaties and national projects on gender equality. Working closely with the Director of Human Rights, she initiated and implemented the Business and Human Rights (BHR) project, which led to Senegal’s first National Action Plan on BHR. She also partnered with the Ministry of Justice of Senegal and the Senegalese Human Rights Committee to design and operationalize an independent national human rights monitoring commission.
Executive Master in Geopolitics and Geoeconomics of Africa, HEC Paris with the UM6P School of Public Policy (Rabat). Certification in Mediation, Diplomacy and Negotiation, University of Nairobi with WARC. Master’s in International Public Service, EHEI Paris.
As AGI’s Director of Programs and Head of the Youth & Migration Cluster, Maty provides strategic leadership across the Institute’s regional portfolio, steering multi-country programs aligned with the AU Agenda 2063, the African Governance Architecture and ECOWAS frameworks.
A seasoned expert in resource mobilization and results-based management, she has secured and overseen multi-million-dollar portfolios from leading development partners, including the Open Society Foundations (OSF), BADEA and international donors, to amplify Africa’s voice in global governance dialogues, including at the United Nations General Assembly.
She spearheaded flagship regional initiatives and partnerships that equip young entrepreneurs and emerging leaders across West Africa, including The Gambia, Sierra Leone, Ghana, Guinea, Liberia and Senegal, with leadership, access to finance and entrepreneurial skills.
Maty plays a pivotal role in supporting regional stabilization and diplomacy, backing high-level mediation missions between ECOWAS and the Alliance of Sahel States and leading projects on conflict prevention and social cohesion. This reinforces AGI’s commitment to institutional dialogue, peacebuilding and regional cooperation across West Africa.
