A specialist in governance, rule of law and peacebuilding, Maty Ndiaye leads AGI’s regional work, from flagship youth programs to mediation support between West Africa’s institutions.
Maty began her career as a Communication Specialist at Emmaus International, working on advocacy and public awareness in the fight against poverty and exclusion.
She then served as a Governance, Rule of Law and Peacebuilding Specialist at UNDP in Dakar, supporting democratic governance initiatives and contributing to the establishment of an independent national human rights monitoring commission, in collaboration with the Ministry of Justice of Senegal and the Senegalese Human Rights Committee.
As AGI’s Director of Programs, she provided strategic leadership across the Institute’s thematic clusters, guiding results-oriented program design, implementation and performance monitoring. She also led resource mobilization with key development partners, securing major funding for flagship programs that amplify Africa’s voice in global governance dialogues, including at the 2024 United Nations General Assembly.
She spearheaded a regional initiative that equipped over 800 young entrepreneurs and emerging leaders across The Gambia and Sierra Leone with entrepreneurial skills and access to financing.
Maty played a pivotal role in supporting the mediation mission of the official Senegalese mediator between ECOWAS and the Alliance of Sahel States, reinforcing AGI’s commitment to dialogue, peacebuilding and regional cooperation in West Africa.
