Leadership rooted in action

Fanta’s path began with citizen action: reforestation campaigns and environmental awareness work started while she was still in high school.

It is a record of constant determination to place local communities, women and young people at the heart of resilience mechanisms in the face of climate shocks. It made her one of the leading voices of African climate advocacy.

Her mandate at AGI

As head of the Climate & Youth cluster, her cross-cutting missions include:

  • Steering and deploying large-scale regional programs across Senegal, Guinea, Liberia, Sierra Leone and Ghana;
  • Creating Climate Innovation Hubs dedicated to the ingenuity and solutions of young people;
  • Incubating and supporting local green businesses, for a sustainable and inclusive economy;
  • Building advocacy and mechanisms for environmental public governance.

Fanta is the founding president of the first movement entirely dedicated to women’s climate leadership in West Africa.
